What Is the Unified TR-YÖS Exam?
On 25/11/2021, the Council of Higher Education announced several decisions, chief among them the creation of a centralized unified YÖS exam — initially called MYÖS — to be held inside and outside Turkey, along with the cancellation of all individual YÖS exams across public and private universities.
It is worth noting that in 2010 the YÖS was already a single, unified exam — much like it is again under the new decisions: click here to view the exam administered in 2010.
In 2022, the Council of Higher Education revised the previous MYÖS decision regarding students coming from outside Turkey; the exam was renamed TR-YÖS and is now used to admit international students to Turkish universities.
TR-YÖS Exam Details
- Number of questions: 80 (Math + Geometry + IQ).
- Exam duration: 100 minutes.
- Exam languages: Turkish – German – English – French – Russian – Arabic.
- The exam is graded out of 500.
- Each math question is multiplied by 0.55.
- Each IQ question is multiplied by 0.45.
Notes:
- Every four wrong answers cancel out one correct answer.
- The certificate is valid for two years.
