
What is the SAT?
The Scholastic Assessment Test, or SAT, is a student aptitude exam used for admission to US universities, but it has become widely recognized by many universities around the world. The entire exam is in English.
Sections and Duration:
The exam lasts three hours and is divided into four sections:
- READING SECTION: Reading (the hardest), 52 questions on five passages, duration 65 minutes.
- WRITING SECTION: Grammar, 44 questions on four passages, duration 35 minutes.
- MATH-no calc SECTION: Math without a calculator, 20 questions, duration 25 minutes.
- MATH-calc SECTION: Math with calculator, 38 questions, duration 55 minutes.
- Essay section: Optional, 50 minutes, scored separately.
The total score is 1600: 800 for the two English sections and 800 for the two Math sections.
