What is the Unified TR-YÖS Exam?

On 25/11/2021, the Council of Higher Education announced several decisions, the most important of which was establishing a unified central YÖS exam (MYÖS) to be administered both inside and outside Turkey. Another decision cancelled all individual YÖS exams previously held by state and private universities.

It is worth noting that in 2010 the YÖS was already a single unified exam, just as it has now become with the new decisions: click here to view the exam administered in 2010.

In 2022, the Council of Higher Education amended the previous MYÖS decision regarding students coming from outside Turkey, and the exam was renamed TR-YÖS. International students will be admitted to Turkish universities based on this exam.

Details of the TR-YÖS Exam

Number of questions: 80 (Math + Geometry + IQ).
Exam duration: 100 minutes.
Exam languages: Turkish, German, English, French, Russian, Arabic.
Total score: 500.
Each math question is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.55.
Each IQ question is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.45.

Notes:

Every four wrong answers cancel one correct answer.
The certificate is valid for two years.
